Fee has been a governor and Trustee since 2004 and was designated as a National Leader of Governance from 2015 to 2021 when the original programme ceased. Fee is a founder member of Independent Governor Support (IGovS) a group of former NLGs from across the country. 

Currently Fee is the Chair of Trustees in a 7 school academy trust (primary and secondary) that straddles the East and West Midlands border, a trustee at a small trust in Telford and at a Church of England Trust in Stone, Staffordshire. She is also a local governor at one of the most deprived schools in her locality. 

 Fee runs a small governance consultancy – SBW Governance (Success Begins With...) and works for a number of academy trusts as their Independent Governance Professional as well as undertaking governance reviews, delivering training and supporting chairs. 

By profession Fee was formerly a Chartered Town Planner working in regeneration and strategic planning – both disciplines align well with the work she now undertakes in education governance.
