Last week, 12 Year 10 students from Invictus Education Trust schools spent the week at Eton College as part of the five-day Skills for Success Summer School.
Selected for their positive attitude and commitment to learning, the students developed essential life skills including leadership, resilience, public speaking, teamwork and creative problem-solving through classroom sessions and a packed programme of activities. They also stayed in Eton boarding houses, experiencing aspects of college life.
The week included a range of ‘skills for success’ sessions and team-building activities, from sports and an Eton Fun Facts Tour to a treasure hunt, an Eton Mess-making competition with Eton’s Head Chef, and a talent show, before ending with a formal farewell lunch.
We hope they had an inspiring, memorable and rewarding experience, building confidence, developing new skills and creating friendships that will last long beyond the week.
Nikki Clifton, director of secondary education at Invictus Education Trust, said: “This has been an incredible opportunity for students from across our six secondary schools. Spending time away from home, meeting new people and taking part in enriching educational activities has helped build their confidence and encouraged them to think differently about what they can achieve. They have returned with greater ambition, stronger self-belief and a renewed sense of positivity about the future.”
Well done to all of our students!
