Governance Volunteers and Leaders Unite to help Shape the Future at Invictus Education Trust’s Governance Conference 2026

Invictus successfully hosted its first Governance Conference, bringing together trust members, trustees, associate governors and leaders from across the trust for a day of collaboration, professional development and strategic discussion.

The conference provided an opportunity for attendees to explore the evolving role of governance within education, strengthen networks across the trust and reflect on the shared responsibility of delivering the very best outcomes for pupils.

Delegates were welcomed by trust leaders, who outlined Invictus Education's strategy and ambitions for the future. Attendees heard about the trust's vision for continued growth and excellence, with a focus on ensuring that governance remains a driving force behind school improvement.

A key highlight of the day was a presentation from Jo Evans, a serving Ofsted Inspector, on the role of governance during Ofsted inspections. The session provided valuable insight into the expectations placed on associate governors and trustees and the significant contribution they make to effective school leadership and accountability.

Another highlight of the day was hearing how schools are delivering their community strategies locally and celebrating the excellent work taking place across the trust. The afternoon featured community-focused discussions, encouraged the sharing of best practice and highlighted the strength of collaboration across the Trust’s schools.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Michelle Jones, Director of Governance and Strategy at Invictus Education Trust, said:

"Governance plays a vital role in ensuring that our schools continue to provide exceptional opportunities for every pupil. It was fantastic to see so many of our governance volunteers from across the trust come together to share expertise, learn from one another and strengthen the collective impact of governance. The discussions throughout the day demonstrated the commitment, passion and professionalism that exists across our governance community."

The Governance Conference 2026 reinforced Invictus Education Trust’s commitment to investing in governance development and fostering strong partnerships across its family of schools. Attendees left with new insights, strengthened connections and a shared determination to support the trust's ongoing success.
