It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce that former Chair of Board of Trustees (Invictus Education Trust) and Chair of Governors (Ellowes Hall Sports College), Geoff Marsh, sadly passed away at home in the early hours of Saturday 6th November, surrounded by his family.
Geoff served on the governing body at Ellowes Hall Sports College for over 35 years, and as Chair of Governors for more than 20 years, only leaving to take up the post of Chair to the Board of Trustees at Invictus Education Trust’s inception. Geoff’s dedication to education, Ellowes, Invictus and our communities has been phenomenal, a real unsung hero that was happy to work in the background for the benefit of our students.
Invictus Education Trust CEO, Mr Tony Bowles added: “I have worked in education for over 30 years and can honestly say that Geoff’s drive and passion for education and the students under his watch has been unrivalled. I have known Geoff for a number of years but it is in recent years during my tenure as CEO have I really got to see, up close, what a special man Geoff was. During our weekly Friday morning meetings Geoff was always full of passion and enthusiasm for school improvement, with the energy of someone half his age. I receive this news with great sadness but very fond memories of an incredible man”
During this period of mourning all school flags will be flown at half mast. We feel very privileged that the family have asked that any donations people would like to make in memory of Geoff will go to Ellowes Hall School, as this is what he would have wanted.
